​      Thorney Lakes GC Senior Section

Welcome to the Thorney Lakes Seniors’ Website. I have the privilege of being the 2026 Senior Captain and I would like to take this opportunity to say a few words about our Senior Section.

We meet, officially, every Thursday morning. The clubhouse opens at 7.00am for tea or coffee and the first draw for tee times is made at 7.45am for an 8.00am start. The last draw is made at c. 8.15 for the remaining members. Throughout the year we have a wide mixture of individual and team competitions with small financial prizes for the winners and places. As well as the official Thursday roll up, we also have friendly matches against other clubs. Our home matches this year, will be on Mondays. The days for away matches vary depending on the wishes of the host club. All Thorney Seniors are encouraged to put their name down for selection and I will try to give as many members as possible at least a match or two.

We pride ourselves, at Thorney Lakes Seniors, on being a welcoming section to all golfers, aged 55 or over, who are members of Thorney Lakes Golf Club, whatever their ability. Indeed, over the past year several new members have joined us from other clubs and remarked on how quickly they were welcomed into the fold. Fun and banter are key ingredients that make up the ‘Thorney Factor’ in which we take considerable pride.

I should also add that although we have a Ladies Section at Thorney, meeting on Tuesdays, all Ladies wishing to admit that they are 55+, are welcome to join in with our Thursday roll up. Currently we have 3 ladies who join us regularly and several more who participate occasionally.
